All Gays Are Perverts
by Coded Logic in"scientists may never resolve exactly how much of a role nature and nurturing play in same-sex attraction.
but one thing is clear: all humans are born with the tendency to succumb to wrong thinking and inclinations.
--romans 3:23. a youth who desires to please god must therefore conform to his moral standards and shun immoral behavior, though doing so may be agonizingly difficult.

What Finkelstein said...
In my mind...child sexual abuse is the same thing as rape! It comes from the same place...rage and control!

How to raise awareness about child abuse.
by DATA-DOG inhere's an idea.
we know the wtbts fears exposure more than anything.
so what if we made an organized, concerted effort to contact every celebrity jw that we can think of?

I found a list of even more...http://wiki.jw-archive.org/+Celebrity+Jehovah's+Witnesses+-+Famous+or+Infamous%3F+You+decide. The list of ex JW's is at the bottom of the page.
I think this is a really cool idea, it would be nice if we could get some of them to speak out.
Sorry...looks like I got the same one as DOT...

This issue was always one of my cognitive dissonance triggers...pre JW, I had lots of gay friends that I loved dearly. So this issue always grated on my nerves. But being the good little JW, I just shut my mouth and tamped it down. But as I started working full time, and became a manager in a phone room, I came into close contact with people of all orientations. As part of my job, there could be no appearance of discrimination or bigotry...this was so freeing for me. I was finally able to "associate" freely with anyone I wanted to. I didn't do so outside of work...of course, but this actually may have been part of what started to cause my dissatisfaction with the whole lifestyle. It was also the cause of many disagreements between my ex and myself (I honestly think he's in the closet, even to himself.) Homosexuality was the one issue that he was completely violently opposed to...even after he was DF'd for being a drunkard and being with prostitutes...hypocrite...anyway...
In the OP the quote... "Child molesters invoke the same pathetic excuse when they say their craving for children is "innate." But can anyone deny that their sexual appetite is perverted? So is the desire for someone of the same sex." How quickly will they DF's someone for being gay, yet protect the real perverts...sick!

Other than Blood, I have never known a JW to refuse medical treatment. I was in for 20+ years and have had lots of medical issues and was never encouraged to deny treatment, except blood. When my father was sick (not a JW) and I was his POA, he needed a transfusion. The elders told me that it was my responsibility to ensure that HIS wishes were observed, not MY beliefs.
So I have to conclude that this individual was delusional. His refusal to take his meds was on him, not the WTS.

Do you want to take action to support mandatory child abuse reporting? (UK or US mainly)
by defender of truth inthis quote is just for discussion purposes, not my political bias or anything... .
" a 'revolution in attitudes' is needed to safeguard children from sex abusers, according to the shadow home secretary, yvette cooper.in an interview with the independent on sunday, ms cooper said that the problem was wider than the historic cases uncovered through the jimmy savile scandal and the abuse of hundreds of children in rotherham.she said that childrens voices must be heard by organisations which had failed to act in the past, and pledged that a labour government would make the reporting of abuse a legal requirement... we need to introduce mandatory reporting so that no institution can ever be tempted to think that the reputation of the institution matters more than the protection of the child ... there has to be a stronger obligation to report and to act.labour has included mandatory reporting in the partys pre-election manifesto and has also said it will set up a cross-whitehall unit to tackle child protection.

Hello All!
by ihunt ini figure it's about time that i stop silently lurking around this community and actually add to the conversation, so here goes a first post.
a little about me-i was born "half-in", that is, my mother has been a witness for the entirety of my life whereas my father has never been.
i was an active part of the congregation (at least for what an unbaptized publisher can do) until i turned 18 and got an opportunity to attend a university (go school!).

Lostfromthefaith, I understand the spiritual quest you are on. The desire for a deep relationship with God. No one can tell you what is right for you, the journey must be your own. Do your research. Ask questions and if the answers don't feel right, ask more questions. One thing for sure is no one has all the answers. No matter what a particular religion claims, they truly don't know it all.
As far as JWs are concerned, their teachings appear to be all bible based, and most of them are really good people. Just keep in mind that they discourage higher education, association with others outside of the organization...including your parents...is really discouraged and although not forbidden, you would never be permitted to celebrate another holiday or birthday, you could never participate in any school activity or be friends with people you go to school with, and most likely since you weren't raised "in the truth", the kids at the hall would not be permitted to closely associated with you.
It's really great that your parents are supportive in this, so get their advise and opinions. They only want what's best for you and they would have a more experienced outlook to keep you out of a potentially harmful situation.
